Geography
Kondopozhsky Municipal district is located in the northern part of South Karelia. In the southeast, it has access to Lake Onega. It borders in the north, northeast, and east with the Medvezhegorsky municipal district, in the west — with the Suoyarva municipal district, in the southwest and south — with the Pryazhinsky and Prionezhsky municipal districts

Infrastructure
Transport accessibility is provided by the federal highway R-21 «Cola», by regional and local roads. Transportation of passengers on the territory of the municipal district is carried out by LLC «Putinauto», LLC «ATP». The Yanisjarvi — Lodeynoye Pole Railway runs through the district. Passenger service has been discontinued.

The main industries of the district include: pulp and paper production, stone processing and stone casting, logging and woodworking, production of building materials.
